SHARE OPINIONS AGAINST CERTAIN KINDS OF TEACHING METHODOLOGY

In this blog we will express our point of view, explain some reasons for the opinions in addition to the advantages and disadvantages that have the methods of teaching a language. Also advising teachers in the design of a work plan.

The Direct Method
Overview 
It can be said that the main focus of this method is oral skill, the teacher can teach this method through repetitive piercings, the teacher teaches grammar inductively, so almost always students should try to guess what is being shared.
Explanation
This method is commonly used because it is used to teach a number of different languages, not just English, and the main idea of the direct method is that it only uses the target language that students are trying to learn.
Advantages
• It is direct
• Spoken in the target language
• The student becomes familiar with the language in its pronunciation
Disadvantages
• You cannot easily identify the components of a sentence. 
• The student must intuit or guess what is communicated. 


The Grammar Translation Method
Overview 
It can be said that the main focus of this method is to teach English from grammar, so it is very much based on translation, this method is commonly used by those students who want to study and learn literature at a deeper level.
Explanation
This method is commonly used in several countries and is considered as the traditional or "classical" way of learning a language and is commonly used when learning some other languages.
Advantages
• Grammar is learned
• Elements of a sentence are studied 
• Different structures of a sentence are handled.
Disadvantages
• Informal sentences are not considered
• Pronunciation is not relevant in this method.
• This method focuses on writing. 


The Audio Lingual Method
Overview
It can be said that the main focus of this method is the teaching of a second language through listening and speaking the language, in addition to being able to learn through constant reinforcement.
Explanation
This method is commonly used in the axis, it is based on a theory of learning that mentions that things can be learned by constant reinforcement.
Advantages
• Learned through listening and speaking
• With constant practice favors learning
• If a good use of the language happens, positive feedback is given
Disadvantages
• If the use of the language is not used properly, negative feedback is received.


The Structural Approach
Overview
It can be said that the main focus of this method is grammatical structure, since any language is composed of complex grammatical rules.
Explanation
These rules, according to this approach, must be learned in a specific order, for example, the logical thing would be to teach the verb "to be" before teaching the present continuum that requires using the auxiliary form of the verb "to be".
Advantages
• The grammatical structure of a language is studied
• Grammar rules must be learned.
• Extensive knowledge about grammar is obtained. 
Disadvantages
• It is necessary that the rules are learned in a specific order


Suggestopedia
Overview 
This method is based on the belief about the students, that the students' learning is based on the atmosphere and the physical environment of the class, also on the students being comfortable and safe.
Explanation
When using this method the teacher must make use of art and music, in addition the lesson of this method is divided into three phases: 1. decryption, 2. concert session and 3. elaboration.
Advantages
• Use of visual and auditory resources
• The classroom environment is important.
Disadvantages
• Teachers must properly prepare the class to employ this method. 
• It is well known that in a classroom the environment is changing.


Total Physical Response
Overview
It can be said that the main focus of this method is the physical response, this method is based on the idea that you learn by doing.
Explanation
To employ this method it is necessary to mention words or sentences that imply performing an action, and these actions are repetitive. For example: open the door, close the door, open your book, write in your notebook, etc.
Advantages
• You learn by doing.
• Sentences can be easily associated with the action being performed.
Disadvantages
• The student will not study sentence structure and grammar.


Communicative Language Teaching (CLT)
Overview
It can be said that the main focus of this method is to be able to help students communicate in the most effective morning reality. 
Explanation
This type of teaching involves focusing on important functions such as suggesting, thanking, inviting, complaining, and asking for directions, to name just a few.
Advantages
Helps to use the language in real situations.
• Focuses on important functions of everyday life.
Disadvantages
• In realistic situations, a formal and informal dialogue is used, so it is necessary to understand both.

The Silent Way
Overview
It can be said that the main focus of this method emphasizes the autonomy of the student, the teacher is only a facilitator who encourages students to be more active in their learning.
Explanation
This type of teaching implies that the teacher does not talk too much so that the students can be autonomous in their learning.
Advantages
• Autonomy is promoted in the student
• The student learns from grammar and structural study, vocabulary, and pronunciation are constantly drilled and for reinforcement
Disadvantages
• There is little teacher interaction
• The teacher will only evaluate

Community Language Learning
Overview 
It can be said that the main focus of this method is that you learn English in a community, in sonde the student feels more confident.
Explanation
The student feels more confident, because there is a great emphasis on the relationship and bond between the student and the teacher.
Advantages
• There is more of a relationship between the student and the teacher. 
• The teacher knows his students and interacts with them. 
Disadvantages
• Being a community, the teacher generally does not pay particular attention to the progress of each student.

Task Based Language Learning
Overview 
It can be said that the main focus of this method is the tasks and their realization.
Explanation
Assignments that must be relevant and interesting are set by the teacher and students are expected to take advantage of their pre-existing knowledge of English to complete the assignment with as few errors as possible.
Advantages
• Tasks are performed 
• The acquired knowledge of English is used to perform the tasks.
Disadvantages
If you do not have knowledge of English, it becomes complex to be able to perform the task.


The Lexical Approach
Overview 
This method is based on the words most used by students, as well as focuses on the acquisition of vocabulary and the teaching of lexical fragments in order of their frequency and use.
Explanation
The teacher places great emphasis on using authentic materials and realistic scenarios to achieve valuable learning.
Advantages
• This method seeks to achieve valuable learning
• The teacher gives priority in achieving valuable teaching
Disadvantages
This approach in teaching focuses on vocabulary acquisition and the teaching of lexical fragments in order of their frequency and use, so the student should already know a little more about the language
